OUR MISSION
Our mission is to help make Yarmouth the Safest Community on Cape Cod, the Yarmouth Police Foundation/Bluecoats will work in partnership with the men and women of the Yarmouth Police Department to help educate the community, provide resources to help reduce crime, and improve the quality of life for everyone who works, visits, or resides in the Town of Yarmouth.
Every citizen has a stake in the success of American policing. The police are the crucial link in the nation’s system of crime control and the local agency of government on duty 24 hours a day to protect lives, homes, and property. Everywhere in the nation, police are the catalyst for community crime prevention efforts.
The purpose of the Bluecoats is to help the Yarmouth Police be more effective in doing their job, whether it is deterring robberies, intervening in potentially injurious family disputes, or working to improve relationships between the police and the Yarmouth community. To accomplish our mission, we work closely with the police department and it is in their hard work and contributions that our accomplishments are rooted.
ABOUT US
The Bluecoats of Yarmouth (BCY) was established in 2014 and is supported by the Yarmouth Police Foundation (YPF) which is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit charitable corporation for the purpose of providing financial support to the Yarmouth Police Department providing resources and equipment not covered by the Yarmouth Police Department annual budget. All Board Members are volunteering their time to this important program.

The BCY was established in 2014 to provide vital support to the Chief of Police and the Yarmouth Police Department. The organization is based on a public-private partnership model that has proven to be highly effective in the prevention and reduction of crime in other major cities. Since its inception, the Bluecoats has worked to secure and leverage private resources to fund high-priority projects designed to enhance the Town of Yarmouth’s ability to fight and prevent crime.
As a result of the work of the YPF/BCY, since 2014 there has been an increase in the engagement of Yarmouth’s business community and neighborhood residents in fighting crime. Additionally, the Town has experienced an overwhelming reduction in crimes overall.
We continue to partner with the business community and the citizens of Yarmouth in an effort to make Yarmouth the safest and most inviting town for all its residents, workers and visitors.
